I've been working for a while on a game similar to Colonization. It is written in Visual C++ and you can get a working exe from the project homepage (Win32 only).
So far it has very limited functionality: a map generator, and you can move around and explore with a caravel and a soldier (until they starve to death )
Good work - but maybe you would enjoy helping the FreeCol developers get their project ahead faster? It's several years ahead of yours, now containing just about everything Col1 had but with much improved user interface and multi-player capability.
Good luck with further development - maybe you could also contribute to the Freecol project as Robin mentioned? Anyway, let us know how things progress!
@Robin Played some Freecol today - have to say the project is moving ahead nicely. Are there many changes in the 0.9.0 version? (I tested the 0.8.4 stable version)
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. (H.D.Thoreau)

Re: My open source project
Hi, dragos_p! I've noticed your project on SourceForge. I really like the graphics, the way you handle colors, the animation of the Sea... it's pretty damn impressive!
Are you doing it all by yourself?

Re: My open source project
Thanks!
Regarding Freecol, I don't pretty much like how it looks (looks bland, lacks the atmosphere of the original) and I'm programming in C++, not in Java.
@Viceroy: Yes, for the moment I'm the only one working on it, now and then. A graphic artist would be of great assistance.
